About the Artist

My name is Kieran Hearn

I live in Brisbane with my wife Cassandra Damms, and I am a proud Aboriginal artist whose mob comes from Cunnamulla in South-West Queensland, sharing connection to the Kunja and Kooma Nations. My totems are the possum and wedge-tailed eagle which hold deep spiritual meaning and connection for me throughout my journey in life and art.

When the Journey Began

When the Journey Began, art was not something planned — it was something that emerged from a deeply personal and life-changing moment.

The passing of my mother, Valerie Kate Hearn (28/07/2022), marked a turning point in my life. In the silence that followed, painting became a way to process grief, to sit with emotion, and to find meaning in what felt overwhelming. What started as quiet reflection slowly became a source of healing.

Through each brushstroke, I found connection again — not only to memory and emotion, but to my mother’s presence in a different form. Art became a way to speak when words were not enough, and a way to honour her life, love, and influence on who I am today.

Over time, this personal expression grew into something deeper: a sense of purpose. Painting was no longer only about healing; it became about storytelling, culture, and sharing something meaningful with others.

Alongside this journey, my wife Cassandra has been a constant source of strength and belief. Her support and guidance in shaping the business side of this vision has allowed the work to grow beyond a personal practice into a shared purpose. Together, we continue to build something rooted in love, connection, and cultural expression.

Today, every artwork carries that beginning within it — a foundation built from loss, healing, love, and the ongoing journey of turning lived experience into story and connection.
